Paralegal/Legal Assistant

ABOUT THE JOB

 

You will be allocated clients to manage from file establishment to visa grant. Our clients will expect you to provide timely, accurate and professional visa management services. Your tasks will include:

Opening, closing and managing client files

Preparing, amending, filing and serving legal documents

Assisting with client enquiries

Managing data, file opening and attend settlements

Assisting lawyers in dealing with relevant matters as directed

Undertake independent research under supervision

Communicate and interact with all sorts of clients under supervision

Conduct marketing endeavours as directed from time to time

 

ABOUT YOU

 

You will be able to work autonomously, manage deadlines, keep your cool under pressure and get that warm fuzzy feeling when you solve a difficult client issue. Specifically, you need:

Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail;

Fluent and professional English AND written/spoken Chinese mandatory;

Previous relevant working experience is preferred but not essential;

Bachelor or above degree is preferred;

Degree with law or conveyancing components required;

Word, Excel and Outlook experience mandatory;

Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

Ability to work and remain calm under pressure;

Ability to manage time effectively to multitask and prioritise tasks;

Current MARA registration

Student of Certificate of Australian Migration Law and Practice accepted

Graduate of Law Degree accepted

To demonstrate experience in a similar role – the preparation and lodgement of student visa, General Skill Migration, 186 visas, 187 visas, 457 visas, sponsorship and nomination applications, 188 visas and 888 visas.

Experience in managing a high case load of clients

Fluent language skills in both English and Mandarin

 

ABOUT THE JOB

Liaising with DIBP and industry bodies

Researching and interpreting migration policy

Salary will be commensurate on qualifications and experience. Candidates are required to be available during normal working days, Monday to Friday 9AM to 5.30PM.

The duties of the role include, but are not limited to:

Serve visitors by greeting, welcoming, directing and announcing them appropriately

Answer, screen and forward any incoming phone calls while providing basic information when needed

Receive and sort daily mail/deliveries/couriers

Maintain security by following procedures and controlling access (monitor logbook, issue visitor badges)

Update appointment calendars and schedule meetings/appointments
